Reddit is always a treasure chest, besides the usual rant, there is always good work to be found. This time, I dug into the competitive Hearthstone subreddit and found an article by The DarkMaster13 called ‘Gang Discover Chances‘. The article answers the question, which chances you have to get effects like healing, card draw or even weapons from the Tri-Class Discover card Grimestreet Informant, Kabal Courier and Lotus Agent. It also highlights an interesting fact, that Tri-Class cards count indeed as class cards in the discovery process. This implies, that infinite discovery is possible. Also, the chances to draw these multi-class cards from other (neutral) discover cards is four times higher compared to neutral cards as it is the case with regular class cards. Interesting! Check all the details out here....

Mean Streets of Gadgetzan is just a couple days old and like any expansion release, we’re seeing a hectic meta as people start testing out decks to see what works and what doesn’t. Also like every collectible card game in existence with a new expansion, aggro takes the early lead as people take advantage of experimentation for quick and easy wins. Aggro Pirate Warrior is such a deck that should be popular toward the beginning, but I’m not sure will have any staying power. Jade Golem Druid is a very popular pick as well and as people continue to experiment with it, it’s possible it could be a top tier meta deck for the next year – especially in any meta that you can easily control the late game. Other popular decks have been Reno/Kazakus versions for Priest, Dragon Priest, Reno style Mage, and Reno style Warlock. With Kabal focusing ...

Jay Wilson's Twitter Q&A

by Hotstreak on

Former Game Director, Jay Wilson took some time yesterday to answer questions about the development of Diablo 3 on his Twitter account. He mentioned some features that were cut and he also talked about the art style. They went with a more colorful and vibrant art style with the absence of pentagrams and burning crosses to make the game world feel more unique. Source He likes the “dark and gritty” art style but also prefers to be able to tell whats going on and chose more colors for gameplay reasons. Source There was a dynamic weather system in place during development but it was scrapped for better quality art. Source Diablo 3’s engine is the same one that was being used for Blizzard North’s game back in 2003, even with some concepts and creature designs being carried over. Source His development team had a lot of creative freedom during development ...

Legion PvP Season 1 Ends Dec 13th

by pallimmanis on

Blizzard has announced that Legion PvP Season 1 will occur on Tuesday, December 13th at 6am PST, and Season 2 will begin two hours later at 8am PST. This is an odd turn of events since in previous seasons there has typically been at least one week between the end of one season and the start of the next. At the same time, this bodes well for the next patch to be released to live realms since the end of the PvP season typically coincides with the release of the next patch....

Srey's Pop Quiz

by Alebeard on

Srey made an interesting post on Reddit yesterday entitled, The definitive guide to why you probably shouldn’t split-push as Azmodan (and why Hotslogs stats can be misleading). For those not familiar with Srey, he is currently the Warrior player for Dumpster Tier Superstars, and formerly of Tempo Storm and Vox Nihili. While he has played with several major North American teams, he may be best known for his Solo Queue Tier List. His post centers around the premise that the average Heroes player lacks a fundamental strategic understanding of the game, or what he calls the meta basics. In order to illustrate his point he provides a brief pop quiz for players to take. Let’s see how well you do. What is the meta for each map? I.E. Does the map have a solo lane, which lane is the solo, should you rotate between lanes, how important is wave clear, ...

Black Friday Nexus Style

by Alebeard on

Who doesn’t like a good sale? Apparently everyone does because Black Friday has become Thanksgiving tradition and this year even the Nexus is celebrating. This particular sale is largely focused on Legendary skins, which aren’t typically included in the weekly sales, and the ever popular 360 Day Stimpack. The sale prices are live now, and they only last until November 28th, so don’t miss out on these deals. See below to see exactly what the Black Friday Sale includes....

The Overwatch team posted a Developer Update with Jeff Kaplan this morning. In this informative 9-minute video, Jeff highlighted changes coming to Symmetra, an update on the newly announced Oasis Control map, and some social features. Symmetra: Has a choice of Ultimate. “Teleporter” Teleporter works just as it did before. “Shield Generator” The Shield Generator applies shields (more than previous) to allies in a large radius and ignores line of sight. Symmetra’s ability to apply shields to allies is being removed. “Photon Barrier” replaces her previous shield ability. The Photon Barrier is an elliptical shield that follows along a track. Symmetra can now stock 6 turrets (up from 3). The total amount of turrets she can have out at once is still the same. Weapon remains mostly unchanged, but Symmetra’s primary fire has had it’s range extended by a minor amount. These changes are coming “very soon” to the PTR. ...

Deep Mind Presentation

by zexerous on

Artificial intelligence has always been an important part of Blizzard’s games. All of the monsters, space marines, demons, and murlocs we’ve slain have required AI to give us something to play against. Today, Blizzard and some of the clever engineers at Google discussed DeepMind, AI that might change the future of Starcraft. The panel opened discussing how they built an AI with DeepMind. Their mission is to “solve intelligence, and use it to solve everything else.” Intelligence is, according to their standards, “the ability to learn to perform well over a wide range of environments.” They aimed for a General-Purpose Learning Machine, which learns automatically from raw inputs, and generally can operate across a wide range of tasks. Additionally, their intelligence needs to learn progressively, improving on everything it does. They call this their Reinforcement Learning Framework, where there an AI has a certain goal (accruing the most points), is placed an environment ...
